GENERAL SGIS NEWS
SUMMER ENEWS: Welcome to the third edition of Summer Enews. Instead of publishing weekly as we do during the academic year, Summer Enews will come out every other week. We welcome families who are newly admitted to the St. George's community as well!
SUMMER RESOURCES/FORMS PAGE: Get ahead of the game and access all the resources and forms needed to ensure a smooth beginning to the school year. While there are a few items still to be finalized and linked, our Summer Resources/Common Forms page will allow you to begin planning for the upcoming school year. Watch your inboxes for the late July email from your campus which will highlight details for the first day of school and include reminders about required forms. For your convenience, most required forms are available for download now on our Summer Resources/Common Forms page.
SHUTTLE REGISTRATION FOR 2017-18: Please note that as of July 2, transportation registration is closed. If you would like to be added to our waiting list, please contact Sissy Swindell at 901-335-5857 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
NEED TO ORDER A LAPTOP? The deadline to order a laptop in time for guaranteed arrival by early August has passed, however, the order form is still available should you still need to purchase a laptop. Just visit this link for all the details.
SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS: Make sure you have all the information for your child's summer work. Visit our summer assignments page. Note that middle/upper school mathematics assignments were posted July 1 in anticipation of the release of class schedules being finalized on July 10.
RESERVE AD SPACE IN THE 2017 YEARBOOK: Support St. George’s Independent School by placing an ad in our yearbook! Ads are a great way to advertise for a business and/or honor a student, teacher, volunteer, club, or team. Click here to access the online ad agreement form. You can reserve your space now but ads will not be officially processed until payment is received. Space goes fast, so reserve soon!
JOIN OUR HEAD OF SCHOOL IN THE BLOGOSPHERE: Keep up with Head of School Ross Peters through his blog, Ross All Over the Map. Recent posts will inspire you with words of wisdom from our graduates. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the main page to request notification by email whenever there is a new post.
GRYPHNATION STUDENT LIFE APP RELEASED: GryphNation, a student life app that rewards users for attending events, is now live on the App Store and coming soon for android users! Download the app to check in to events, earn points, and get rewarded. Download the flyer.
TAX FREE WEEKEND: Don't forget to bookmark or print your child's supply list in preparation for Tennessee's Tax Free Weekend, July 28-30!

CALLING ALL ARTISTS: Are you an artist or do you know an artist who would be a great addition to the St. George's Art Show held in November 2017? To apply for participation, please fill out the application at http://goo.gl/forms/Vep4oj1c6L and submit 6-8 images representing your current work to email@example.com. SUMMER CAMP IS IN FULL SWING: There's so much going on at St. George's during the summer! Need some summer options? Learn more: http://www.sgis.org/summercamp.
MIDDLE/UPPER SCHOOL – COLLIERVILLE CAMPUS
PHYSICALS FOR UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR: Please note that the deadline for physical forms and other paperwork was July 10 for fall sports. Because lack of this paperwork puts the school and your student at risk, students may not participate in practices or conditioning if the forms are not completed and on file with the athletic office. You may find all forms necessary to complete a physical packet on the athletic section of the school's website.
SCHEDULES AND TEXTBOOK PURCHASES: Please refer to the July 10 email from your division director which announced that student course selections for the 2017-2018 school year are now available via your Veracross portal. Please note that families newly enrolled at St. George's do not yet have access to the schedules on Veracross and received a a separate email from the admission office with student schedule and other information. The corresponding textbooks and materials can now be purchased through the MBS virtual bookstore (with free shipping for the next two weeks) through the following link: http://bookstore.mbsdirect.
SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS DUE DATE: Note that summer reading and math practice for middle and upper school students is due Monday, August 14. Access our summer assignments page.
MIDDLE SCHOOL (grades 6-8)
THEATER AND CHOIR OPTIONS: Contact Traci Osterhagen, Middle School Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need more information about choir and theater class options for the coming year. Learn more about Karen Dean and Sarah Justus, our recent new hires in these areas, by visiting our facebook page.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY: Cross Country practice for students in grades 6-8 will begin the week of Aug 7. The first week we will practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Please meet Monday at 6:00 pm at Johnson Park in Collierville, the first lot after you turn off from Wolf River Blvd. We will have a short parent meeting while the kids practice and will be done by 6:45 pm. Questions? contact Coach Tiffany at email@example.com. You must have a physical on file. You may find all forms necessary to complete a physical packet on the athletic section of the school's website.
UPPER SCHOOL (grades 9-12)
LOOKING TO TRY SOMETHING NEW? Varsity Competitive Cheerleading will add several additional girls to complete our 2017-2018 football and competitive squad. We take girls with advanced cheer skills and girls with no cheer skills and mold them into a competitive team. If you are interested in learning more about Varsity Competitive Cheer, please contact Camilla Evans at firstname.lastname@example.org. Fall practices begin on August 1 at the Collierville campus gym, and we would love for you to stop by. Again, no cheer or tumbling experience is required. Come and observe a practice and see if varsity cheer is for you!
