Please note that families have the opportunity to hide or display directory information according to their own privacy desires. It's a good idea to check the directory and then update your family profile in Veracross to make sure that your directory information is displaying as you wish. Questions? Please email Amanda Asbell at aasbell@sgis.org for lower school or Julien Vincent at jvincent@sgis.org for middle/upper school. Note: the Veracross app in the Apple app store is only for staff members who need back-end access to the SGIS database.

JOIN SGIS TEAM FOR SEPTEMBER 23 ST. JUDE WALK/RUN TO END CHILDHOOD CANCER: We are walking in honor and memory of every Gryphon warrior who has known this disease, as well as all in the St. George's community that have supported them and believe that childhood cancer will end. All are welcome, and participation is what is most important for this event that takes place on the St. Jude campus. Questions? Please email Heidi Rubín de la Borbolla at hrubin@sgis.org. Please click on our team page for details about signing up: http://walkrun.stjude.org/SGIS2017

SG FOR SJ T-SHIRT: We are thrilled to share that we have a great-looking t-shirt to show our support for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is not only vibrant and fun for our team for the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer on September 23, but it is also a shirt that you'll want to wear year-round. To show our St. Jude spirit and support, middle and upper school students will be able to wear these or another St. Jude t-shirt (Team Carson Elizabeth, Adam's Army, etc.) with regular dress code bottoms, in lieu of Friday dress on September 22. If you are interested in purchasing one, please click on this link. T-shirt orders should be placed by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 14.

PARENT BOOK CLUB: Parents are invited to read the middle-grade novel Goodbye Stranger by Rebecca Stead. This coming-of-age novel about friendships, silly bets, and bad decisions using technology will open the door for rich discussions to have with your child on these timely topics. Faculty members will facilitate a discussion with parents and offer tips for being wise in a digital world. Limited copies will be available for parents to check out at each campus library. Please sign up by Friday, October 13 on our google form if you plan to participate. Save the date for our discussion: Wednesday, October 25, 9:15 am OR 6:00 pm at the Germantown campus Cooper Library. Download the flyer.

SUPPORT MODEL UN/YOUTH IN GOVERNMENT CLUB'S SERVICE PROJECT: Support our students at the new student run concession stand at home football games. Student clubs will take turns running the mini-concession stand each week selling snacks and drinks including Chick-fil-A sandwiches and Sweet LaLa's cookies. This Friday SGIS supports Model UN/Youth in Government Club's Binghampton School service project. Food trucks will also be on site during the games.

HOME FOOTBALL GAMES: Please be mindful of the safety and well-being of your children during home football games, especially as they enjoy playing on the adjacent field. We ask that parents provide age-appropriate supervision, as needed, and work with their students to pick up trash and keep our facility clean. As a reminder, St. George’s fosters a commitment to sportsmanship and mutual respect. Thank you!

ATHLETIC PASSES / ATHLETIC PROGRAM: Get ready to cheer on the Gryphons! Home games are coming, and fall season and annual passes are now on sale. If you attend more than 20 home sporting events per year, purchase an annual pass to save money! Imagine the benefits of parking right next to Ferguson Field for pre-game tailgating or a shorter walk! Consider renewing or joining the Gryphon Club with a Gold or Cardinal level membership, complete with ticket passes and convenient parking. Proceeds of Gryphon Club transactions fund student spirit items, secure fan buses, support senior night activities, and much more. Want to purchase season passes? Visit our Gryphon Club page for all the details. Learn more about the Gryphon Club from Tom Densford, Athletic Director.

An information packet can be found here.

AFTER-SCHOOL GUIDELINES FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS: The middle school instructional day ends at 3:15 pm. From 3:15-3:45 pm, students may visit classrooms for office hours. Office hours are optional times for students to complete homework, seek help from teachers, and wrap up their day. If students are on campus from 3:15-3:45 pm, they are expected to be in office hours or the library. After 3:45 pm, students may be picked up by parents, move to the lounge to wait for the shuttle, or walk to the Stokes Fieldhouse for practices as instructed by their families. If students will not be picked up shortly after 3:45 pm, they are expected to go to the library for extended day supervision. If practices begin later than 4:00 pm, those athletes should go to the library until it is time to report to the fieldhouse to change for practice. Our goal is to provide flexibility to families and our students who have a variety of changing needs from one day to the next. We want students to be in supervised spaces when needed, while trusting and expecting them to manage their schedule according to their family's needs.

EXTENDED DAY OPTIONS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS: General extended day care is available for middle school students. In addition, an program called "Overtime," run by Coach Ferguson, is offered as another way for students to get connected after school. We will be participating in a wide variety of fun activities such as ping-pong, kickball, air hockey, chess, and ultimate frisbee. Learn more and register at our middle school extended day page.
